Opportunities to Serve

Below, find a variety of ways to use your spiritual gifts in service to God and our community. If you are interested in any particular area, please call the church office so we can connect you with the project coordinator(s).

Planticipation Team – Helps with beautification and upkeep of the church grounds. Meets seasonally. Just remember to wear work clothes and bring your work gloves!

Daily Bread Noon Meal – Church members meet at the Osceola Christian Ministry Center on the 3rd Wednesday of each month to cook a meal and serve the needy.

Cold Night – In cold weather we open the Fellowship Hall as an emergency shelter for the homeless. We serve supper and breakfast. Soup can be prepared ahead of time, frozen in gallon, zip-style bags, then delivered to the church office so we can place it in the deep freeze. Numerous volunteers are needed each Cold Night to serve as hosts.

Thanksgiving & Christmas Dinners – A full, holiday meal is served to all who have need on Thanksgiving and Christmas day. Food donations are always welcome, as well as volunteers to help set-up, serve, and clean-up.

Hospitality Team - Anytime there is a reception, church potluck lunch, or funeral dinner this is the group that decorates, organizes the food, serves, and cleans-up following the event. If you can provide a dish for funeral dinners, make table centerpieces, or be present to serve we’d like to know. You can help occasionally or frequently.

Communion Preparation and Serving – Just let us know if you would like to assist with communion in any way.

Children’s Ministry & Nursery – Kid-friendly adults are always needed to lead / assist with Sunday School, Wednesday evening Children's Ministry, church nursery, and other various children’s ministries. All volunteers must attend a Child Protection Policy training, be a constituent or member of the church for at least one year, and pass a background check. Contact our Director of Children's Ministry, Dawn Cooney, at (407) 847-3700 ext 230 or dcooney@kissimmeefumc.org

Drivers – Could you share a Sunday morning providing transportation to members of our church who cannot drive themselves? We are looking for more drivers for our very important Van Ministry. You do not need a CDL — just a current driver’s license. Though the route changes occasionally, van drivers usually start the morning at 7:30 a.m. and finish around 1:00 p.m.

Shutterbugs – We could use a few good “shutterbugs” to document church events. If you have a camera and can share photos via computer, please contact the church office.

Techies – If you like to put together power point and video presentations, please let the church office know so we can call you when church and school projects arise.

Justice for our Neighbors (JFON) – This is a ministry of the Florida Conference that provides information and assistance for immigrants across Florida. To learn more, visit the conference website at www.flumc2.org, or visit with Renda Carter from our congregation.
